Connecticut Adventures in Creativity (CTAIC)

Dear Visitor, Friend, Member,

Thank you for stopping by the Connecticut Adventures in Creativity (CTAIC) home on the web. We are an organization of trained volunteers (parents, friends, students, schools, teachers and more) whose goal is to inspire creativity in our youth by having them “think outside the box,” take educated risks and use teamwork to uniquely solve fun challenges. We are proud to sponsor Destination ImagiNation®, the world's largest creative problem-solving program and competition.

But what does that mean to you?

Well, we'd like you to consider joining us, or at the very least, get to know about Destination ImagiNation® and Connecticut Adventures in Creativity. You can find out more about Destination ImagiNation® (DI) by visiting the website at www.destinationimagination.org. There you will learn about the challenges and training that are offered, the competitions, and the sponsors and affiliates throughout the world.

When you join Destination ImagiNation® you obtain a “Membership” which allows you to travel through the many creative challenges that lie ahead. And getting a Membership is easy and convenient. Simply go to www.destinationimagination.org and press Shop DI. Please use the code CT12021A when ordering.

While you are visiting www.destinationimagination.org, feel free to visit the other affiliate websites to see how Destination ImagiNation® takes on a local flavor in hundreds of locations around the globe. You can find links to affiliate and regional websites under the “Where do IDODI?” heading.

As you wander around our home you'll learn who we are, what we have to offer and how to get involved. We offer training for both the students and adults who take on the Destination ImagiNation® challenges.

Connecticut College in New London, a premier liberal arts college, has consistently and significantly supported our vision and us. For the eighth year they will be hosting the Connecticut State Finals Tournament on March 21, 2009. Visit the Connecticut College website at www.conncoll.edu to get a glimpse of this great institution.

Our top scoring teams at the Connecticut State Finals – one each of the three age divisions and five challenges will be invited to Global Finals at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville on May 20 – 23, 2009, to compete with teams from around the world.

Sometimes a little bit of information only makes you want to know more. I hope our home inspires you in just that way. If that's the case, feel free to click on the Board and Challenge Master pages. There are e-mail links to each of these important people. They will be able to give you even more information about how Destination ImagiNation® and Creative Problem Solving (CPS) has affected their lives and those of their schools, organizations and children.

Thank you again for stopping by. Please feel free to join us, as a friend, a volunteer or a spectator. We welcome your interest and support.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Eric Wolff
CTAIC Chairman
Destination ImagiNation® Affiliate Director

CTAIC Ethics Statement For All Participants
CTAIC is an organization that is fundamentally for the benefit of young people through the implementation of DI in CT. As such it is vitally important that all involved, adults with official roles, parents and participants understand, respect and behave according to our code of ethics. First and foremost all participants must always act in a civil and respectful manner towards each other, all property and the work of others. All participants must communicate in an honest, civil and respectful way; both in spoken and written word. All rules of DI as set forth in Rules of the Road must be followed both in letter and in spirit, in particular the rules regarding interference. Competition must be understood as a tool of the DI process and not the goal. Participants must never sacrifice ethical behavior in the pursuit of winning, for then the competition becomes destructive. Our goal is learning, inspiration and the evolution of imagination in each of us.
