Destination ImagiNation® Membership - Registration due December 15, 2007.
This will allow you to become a member of the Destination ImagiNation® global family. Whether you are a previous Destination ImagiNation® Membership holder or a group new to creative problem solving, please purchase your Membership via the on-line system as soon as possible, so you can enroll in the many opportunities in Connecticut. Please be aware that Connecticut is NOT accepting applications from unsponsored parent groups. All memberships must be held by an insured and approved youth supportive organization. (School, YMCA, religious organization, Boys and Girls Club, Scouts, school, Park and Recreation Agency, Youth and Family Services, etc.) This is for the safety of the students and volunteers. If you have any questions please contact Eric Wolff at eric@ct-di.org.

Team Manager Training December 8, 2007.
PRE-REGISTRATION is strongly suggested- $20 includes lunch. Destination ImagiNation® Team Managers come from many different backgrounds. Some are stay at home parents; others are educators, engineers, salespeople, artists, doctors and more. Most of all they are people who want to help kids learn how to trust their own instincts to explore, learn and have fun.

There are no Destination ImagiNation® professionals in Connecticut. Those of us that have been doing this for many years know how confusing and scary it can be to get started. So we want you, the Team Manager, to feel confident and have as much fun as the kids.

Destination ImagiNation® Team Manager Training will get you there.

Each class will give you new tools you can use with the kids right away. And every class is planned with the same philosophy “learning is fun.”

This year we have added some new classes and features to Team Manager Training that will be useful to both veteran and novice Team Managers. We strongly suggest that you attend the training regardless of the number of years you have been involved with creative problem solving programs.

Instant Challenge Experience January 19, 2008 – Registration is due December 15, 2007.
This day becomes more exciting and successful each year.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED - $10 per child. Students in the Elementary, Middle, and Secondary levels will have a fun-filled day of Instant Challenges. In this year’s new format, students have more sessions to learn Instant Challenge techniques and practice more challenges. In fact, the whole day will be devoted to conquering the mysteries of Instant Challenge. Each team is required to have at least 2 adults accompany them on this day. One adult should be a Team Manager who will supervise the students and take training notes as they work their way through the different challenges. The other adult will be trained and serve as an instant challenge “appraiser” for the day. The “appraiser” volunteer could be the assistant or co-Team Manager who will learn additional training tips to use with the team members during meetings, but a parent or child-friendly supporter is certainly appropriate. A giant Pizza Party will take place mid-day. Lunch tickets will be sold in the morning at team check-in. At approximately 2:00, Teams and Team Managers will sit with their Challenge Master to ask questions and learn more about their challenge – so bring copies of your challenge with you.

Team Tournament March 22, 2008– Registration is due December 15, 2007
Please note that each team MUST submit the names of three volunteers for Tournament Day. Two volunteers will be appraisers and will be required to attend appraiser training on February 9, 2008 from 8:30 – 3:00. The Appraisers serve the FULL tournament day and they will NOT be allowed to leave to see other teams perform. It is a good idea to find a teacher or relative that is NOT a team parent to serve in this position. The third individual will be a volunteer who will not be required to attend any training and will be assigned to a half-day of volunteer work (parking, retail, site management, admissions, etc.) at the March 24, 2007 Tournament. The untrained volunteers can be dismissed to see their team perform if there is a conflict. PLEASE NOTE: All Tournament Registrations will be returned that do not have the complete information for the three volunteer positions and/or are not accompanied by a check or PO. We do not accept credit cards or faxed registrations.
